This week, we celebrated a significant rite of passage for our Year 12 students at the 2021 Graduation Dinner at the Adelaide Convention Centre and Valedictory Ceremony at the College.
Our graduates have been an integral part of College life for many years and will be missed. However, we are equally excited at the limitless opportunities that now lie ahead and we know that these young men are very well prepared for the journey forward.
I congratulate our Year 12s on all they have achieved - especially those who have pushed courageously through some very difficult times. I have watched and admired their fortitude and immense courage and enjoyed their good humour and gentle spirit.
In attending Rostrevor, these young men have experienced a great privilege, a quality of education not afforded to everyone. Their job is not to position themselves as better than others because of where they went to school. Their job is to be there for others because of where they went to school.
I would also like to thank our wonderful families and invite you to read a reflection from Brigitte Sorensen (mother of Yr 12 Jack Rudolph) that I hope resonates with many of you (Parent Vote of Thanks). Please enjoy the large photo gallery below and a short Mother and Son video here.
The SA Government has issued a directive that College staff, board members and volunteers must have either completed a course of two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine or had at least one dose by 10 December and have a booking for a second dose. This does not apply to students and to parents who are incidental visitors to the school. Volunteers are invited to contact the College to supply the relevant information. We can clarify:
While masks are not mandatory, we understand there may be some unease as the State's borders open up on Tuesday. In response to this, the College will sell masks featuring the College Crest for $10 from Student Services from Monday for use in any setting. College staff will continue to remind students to maintain good hygiene practices. If your son is unwell, he should stay home regardless of vaccination status or test outcome.

Well done to our Year 10 Youth Ministry classes which ran two separate Retreats with Year 4 students from St Joseph's, Hectorville, and our own Year 3 and 4 Rostrevor students on the theme of “Confirmation”. The Retreats were hosted by the Year 10 boys, with each student running a major activity as well as facilitating small group discussions. The Retreats enabled some wonderful peer-to-peer connections and a greater understanding of confirmation and the gifts of the holy spirit. See photos from the days here
Year 6 Camp on Kangaroo Island was packed full of fun activities including surfing, kayaking, raft-building and reinforcing the friendships and bonds the boys have built throughout the year. What a great way to cap off their Junior Years journey. Well done to Yr 6 teachers Mrs Clark and Mr Hingston. See more photos here
Life Education - Parliament Visit
Students Arjun Malhotra (Yr 7), Alecs Zorzi (Yr 8), Alexander Clark (Yr 9) and Harrison Lynch (Yr 10) were invited by Life Education to attend morning tea at Parliament House with Education Minister Mr John Gardner this week
The program aims to "give kids the smarts to deal with the hard stuff" by empowering children and young people with the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to make informed decisions about their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Well done to Rostrevor's two Year 8 - 10 golf teams that finished near the top of the field in the Ambrose Golf Carnival at North Adelaide Golf Course today. The Carnival allows students to compete in a fun, team format, regardless of experience, and is a great example of the diverse sporting opportunity offered to Rostrevor students.
The opportunity for our Junior Years to try a modified form of Water Polo has been taken up with great gusto. On Sunday, more than a dozens boys joined the 12&U FlippaBall Competition. Training and games are being conducted by Water Polo SA's 14&U State Development Coach, Catherine O'Sullivan.
With 65 Middle and Senior Years students signing up to play Water Polo for Rostrevor in 2022, it seems like a resurgence is under way in this exciting sport.
Week 4 saw a great win by the Year 5 Cricket Team over Pembroke. While the wet weather may have dampened our cricketers' spirits last weekend, there were some great matches played by our Badminton, Basketball, Water Polo, Tennis and Volleyball teams. View this week's Fixtures, Maps & Results here
