Rostrevor’s Specialist Soccer stream will be taught by academic staff member and former Adelaide United A-League player, Mr Daniel Mullen.
Mr Mullen’s sporting accomplishments include 185 professional games, a distinguished 10-year career in the A-League, two FIFA Club World Cups and representing Australia in its U20, U23 and Socceroos sides. Further to his playing career, Mr Mullen also holds his AFC/FFA ‘A’ licence for coaching. His extensive knowledge and experience has helped design the new Specialist Soccer curriculum, focusing on a holistic approach to elite soccer.
Rostrevor has a proud and successful soccer heritage that continues to develop and educate stars of the game. Our exceptional soccer facilities and coaches are the envy of many schools and are backed by a Year 7-12 soccer program which integrates with the College curriculum as well as with SACE in the Senior Years. The program identifies and develops the sporting potential of young talent, while simultaneously fostering their leadership skills and values, giving them space to be 'men for others'.
Rostrevor’s Soccer Program is one of the most comprehensive school soccer programs in South Australia. Rostrevor College has a dedicated Specialist Soccer stream as part of its Physical Education Curriculum to be overseen by Coordinator of Soccer, Daniel Mullen.
Each week in winter, Rostrevor fields six Junior Years teams starting from Year 2, and an impressive 12 sides from our Middle and Senior Years, including our dominant Firxt XI team featuring five NPL players.
In addition to our successful College teams, our students represent various clubs at FSA level playing in the National Premier League, State League and State League 1. Subsequently, many strong professional and personal relationships exist between our College and Adelaide's soccer elite.
The College has a rich and proud history with regards to students who have gone on and played at a high level. Brothers, Ross (‘90) and John Aloisi (‘92) both represented the Socceroo’s and plied their trade overseas for many years. Recently, Jason Spagnuolo (‘02), Bruce Kamau (‘12), Paul Izzo (‘12) and Marc Marino (‘13) have made their mark at A League level.
Rostrevor continues to cultivate emerging soccer stars who are already making their mark at the State and National Premier League level, including Luca Meggetto (‘21), Noah McNamara ('20), Daniel and Luke Frangakis ('20), Alessio Melisi ('20), Adam Leombruno ('21) and David Preka (‘22). These recent ex-scholars join the large number of Rossi students who have or are currently playing seniors at the highest level in South Australia.
Current student and Adelaide United player Fabian Talladira (pictured) was part of the successful U17 Australian Joey Squad which qualified for the U17 Asian Cup 2023 and the U20 Young Socceroos team who were victorious at the Marbella Week of Football Tournament 2023 in Spain.
With six Junior Year teams starting from Year 2 and a further 12 Middle and Senior Year sides, Rostrevor has one of the most expansive soccer programs of any school in the State.
Teams are supported by College teachers and some professional coaches and regularly participate in SAPSASA, State and national competitions.
