Rostrevor College is a place of rich history, with a diverse community and a deep sense of pride in who we are and where we've come from. Across the last 12 months, the College, in consultation with the College Advisory Council, has completed a comprehensive evaluation of our brand and its function. Our review identified that the current application of our branding requires better consistency in reflection of our history and the image we aim to represent.
From this, the College will be implementing some brand updates coming into effect from 2025, with no intended changes to the winter or summer formal uniform. The traditional crest elements will remain, with the refreshed formation achieving greater visual representation and alignment with the College’s mission and vision. Any update to sporting uniforms will be implemented from the 2026 summer co-curricular season, with families receiving relevant communication regarding this later next year.
Debuted at Presentation Night on Monday and shared with the wider community across the College’s social media platforms on Tuesday, the video below captures the essence of Rostrevor’s new branding. It is with great pleasure that I share with you Rostrevor College, Forever.
Thank you to the many families and community members who came along to the Futures Church Paradise on Monday night to celebrate the academic and personal achievements of Rostrevor students. One of the biggest events of the school year, Presentation Night is always a beautiful time to come together near the end of the year to acknowledge those who have made great efforts in their learning and also serves as a time for the College community to farewell the outgoing Year 12 cohort. Shown at the event on Monday, the video below captures what this year’s theme of Inclusivity means to the students and staff of Rostrevor.
All Year 10 Religious Education classes were tasked with leading reflection days as part of their Stage 1 Spirituality, Religion and Meaning course work. Significant planning and preparation time went into the these days, along with energy and enthusiasm on the day.
Two Year 10 Classes led the Year 8 cohort through a Survivor-themed reflection day linking friendship, personal reflection and prayer with the Gospel message of Jesus as the ultimate friend. The other three Year 10 classes were tasked with leading reflection days for Rostrevor, St Joseph's Hectorville and St Joseph's Tranmere Year 4 students on the Sacrament of Confirmation and how we can use the Gifts of the Holy Spirit to be positive and authentic people following in the footsteps of Jesus. The Year 10s were wonderful leaders, building relationships and living out our Gospel and Spirituality touchstones through these experiences.
Students across Years 7-12 were involved in workshops and presentations over the last two days with a focus on safety and addressing risks faced by each cohort. Year 7s heard from Encounter Youth about developing character strengths, strategies to build their resilience and how to successfully navigate challenging social environments when it comes to alcohol and other drugs. Year 8s heard from Encounter Youth about trust and communications in relationships and navigating celebration environments. Encounter Youth delved into this topic a little deeper with the Year 9 cohort, focusing on personal values and choices, alcohol and brain development and strategies to deal with tricky situations. Year 10s participated in the Get Home Safe program, using VR to experience the potentially devastating consequences of poor decisions while driving. The Year 11s participated in the Road Awareness Program delivered by road trauma first responders to provide a hard-hitting, realistic insight into road trauma, encouraging them to make decisions which will keep them and others safe on the road.
On Tuesday our Year 10 students visited their peers at Loreto College for an afternoon focused on fostering ‘Connections and Relationships’. They enjoyed a BBQ lunch followed by social activities that included designing library bags for disadvantaged children and participating in a fun quiz. This event provided a fantastic opportunity for the Year 10s to further develop their social skills, and from all accounts, a great time was had by everyone.
Rostrevor College is once again participating in the Vinnies Christmas Appeal. Over the coming weeks we are asking families to donate items that will be used to create Christmas Hampers for St Vincent De Paul, to help those in need this Christmas season. For more information about how and what to donate, please see the correspondence sent to families HERE.
Representatives from Rostrevor’s Junior Years displayed incredible talent and determination at the Catholic Schools Athletics Carnival yesterday. The Year 6 boys triumphed, securing first place in their age group and showcasing their athletic prowess and teamwork. All students present displayed vibrant red and black spirit, contributing significantly to Rostrevor’s impressive overall finish of third place among competing schools. The boys not only excelled in their individual events but also embodied the values of sportsmanship and camaraderie. Congratulations to the Year 6 boys for their outstanding achievements and for representing Rostrevor with pride!
Congratulations to Year 9 Spencer De Lacy who last weekend took home a swag of medals from the VIVA South Australian All Schools Athletics Championships! Spencer scored four silver medals in the 400m sprint, 200m hurdles, triple jump and pole vault events and broke the school records for the 400m sprint and triple jump in the process. Resulting from his stellar performance, he has been selected to represent South Australia at the National Championships in Brisbane later this year in the U16 4x400m mixed relay, 4x100m men's relay, 200m hurdles, 400m sprint, triple jump and pole vault. What an incredible achievement!
The Handball season has started up again this term, with eight keen Middle and Senior Years players training on Friday afternoons under the expert guidance of CBC Old Collegians Bob and Damian, who each have an impressive 1100 professional games under their belts! The game is a Christian Brothers tradition, with a history spanning back hundreds of years to Ireland. It has been a staple of Rostrevor’s culture since 1923. Any students wishing to try their hand at the sport are encouraged to contact Co-Curricular Coordinator Sarah Catterwell.
Congratulations to Amir Mounzer (Year 6) and Will Saber (Year 5) who have been selected for the South Australian U12 Futsal team! The pair will travel to Melbourne in January for the National competition. Best of luck, boys!
