Stage 1 of the Junior Years building works was completed this week and staff and students are beyond excited to be moving into our newly refurbished spaces on Monday. Stage 1 consisted of two specially designed classrooms, a wet area, a breakout space, a multipurpose room, extensive storage and teacher preparation areas. Reception and Year 1 students will commence learning in the new Early Years area while our Year 2 class move into what will be the new OSHC /Multipurpose space in preparation for Stage 2.  

Stage 2 of the refurbishment will see the new student toilets completed, extension of the upstairs learning area and a total refurb of all the classroom spaces on the southern side of the Junior Years. Exciting times!! 

Congratulations to all 2023 graduates and 2023 Year 11s whose outstanding academic achievements were recognised at the 2024 SACE Merit Ceremony this week.  

Vasilios Banelis, Hashem Bhatti, Jake Boffa, Gabriel Bowering, Alexander Clark, Charlie Crafter, James De Conno, Jaeyeong Han, Isaac Kelly, Harrison Lynch, Matthew Maio, Julio Musolino, Arjun Sharma, Bhuvnesh Sharma and Lachlan Tripodi were all invited to accept awards at Government House hosted by the Governor of South Australia. The Year 7 Activity Days this week were a fantastic way for the cohort to get to know one another and extend their comfort zones in a fun and challenging environment outside the classroom. Students spent three days snorkelling and kayaking at Port Noarlunga, rock climbing and abseiling at Morialta, and surfing at Goolwa. Thank you to Camps Coordinator Mark Roberts for organising this experience.

The Rostrevor College Advisory Council is seeking expressions of interest from the College community to nominate to join the Council. Parents of students are encouraged to apply, especially those with a risk and performance, boarding or diverse background.

This year we are excited to have Jordan Young on board as the new Head of Co-Curricular. Jordan brings a decade of experience in the Co-curricular space to Rostrevor, and was previously the Secondary Co-curricular Coordinator at St Michael's College. He's also held roles with SAAS and the South Australian Cricket Association. I encourage students and families to introduce yourselves if you see Jordan out and about! 

It gives me great pleasure to announce that current Manchester City Football School Coordinator Jamie Lee will be expanding his duties this year to include coaching the First XI Soccer squad. With a wealth of knowledge from one of the world’s most successful football teams, Jamie joined Rostrevor last year to establish our Manchester City Football School program and has quickly established himself as a well-respected member of the Rostrevor community. Having Jamie as coach of both the Manchester City Football School and the First XI will provide players a seamless transition from the Middle Years to representing the College at the highest level in the Senior Years.  

I would like to acknowledge and thank Jamie’s predecessor in the role of First XI Coach, Terry Frangakis, who over the past few years has led the team to many successes, including the incredible feat of emerging from the 2022 season entirely undefeated.
