The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is ‘Inspire Inclusion’, complementing Rostrevor’s theme for 2024, ‘The Year of Inclusion’, perfectly. When we understand and inspire others to understand the value of women’s inclusion, we pave the way for a better world and make a positive impact for all in our community. Today, I was fortunate to be able to attend the International Women’s Day Breakfast at the Adelaide Convention Centre alongside Rostrevor’s Prefects, hearing from guest speaker Annabel Crabb and Senator the Hon Penny Wong.
Rostrevor students took time this morning to recognise that it is everybody’s responsibility to forge a more inclusive world for women, and were encouraged to think about how they can act on this to inspire inclusion in their own community. Students and staff wore purple ribbons to symbolise their support of the initiative and struck the #InspireInclusion pose for photos.
Rostrevor’s Year 10 students warmly welcomed their fathers or male mentors to the College yesterday and today for the Stepping Up program. Throughout the day, the boys and their fathers/male mentors enthusiastically participated in physical team-building and problem-solving activities. Throughout the course of one day, they collaborated to construct and race a water raft and engaged in a HITT session, finishing the day with a reflective session. This program comprehensively addresses various aspects of this pivotal stage in the boys’ lives, recognising:
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the fathers and male mentors for their valuable time and contribution to what proved to be a remarkable experience for the cohort.

Congratulations to Rostrevor’s First XI Cricket team who won their Semi-Final match against St Michael’s College on Saturday, 10/298 to 10/148. Team Captain Dom Zappia put on an impressive display in his final game for Rostrevor’s First XI, batting 162 from 123 balls. This is the second time this year that he has scored a century for Rostrevor, with this match also marking his 1000th run for the First XI!
This win secures our First XI a spot in the Sport Association for Adelaide Schools First XI Division 1 (Pool B) Grand Final on Saturday 16 March. The Grand Final will be held at Rostrevor on the Big Memorial Oval from 12pm. Good luck, boys!
The First XI played a friendly match against the Spirit of Cricket Team on Friday evening. Players from both teams focussed on embracing the ethos of fostering a global cricketing community built on leadership, friendship, and teamwork. Will Fanning was presented with the Spirit of Cricket Award for exemplifying commitment to spreading the values of honesty and love for the game. Boarding student Sam Lehmann's unexpected encounter with his father on the field added a special touch to the match, reinforcing the importance of familial bonds within the cricketing community.
Congratulations to Year 10 student Fred Hancock who won first place at the School Sports South Australia Golf Championships in B Grade on Tuesday. Well done to Sidney McDonald, Timothy Randall and Jacques Malan who had a fantastic back 9, but fell short from the mark.
The Squash Come and Try Day on Tuesday was a resounding success, with 15 new and experienced students venturing to the Handball Courts after school to learn more about the sport and take advantage of the inflatable Squash court! Thank you to Old Collegian Lucas Norman (’10) from Squash SA for coming to Rostrevor to run the session.
