101 years ago, the students who played in that first Intercol Football game at Sacred Heart could have never imagined what that one friendly match would grow into.
Now also including Soccer, Basketball, Table Tennis, Chess and Squash, the Rostrevor - Sacred Heart Intercol is one of the largest events of its kind in South Australia and is always one of the most eagerly anticipated weeks in our two schools’ calendars. Every year, we celebrate our shared history of wins, losses and agonizing draws. We celebrate our camaraderie, strategy and teamwork. We celebrate the school spirit displayed by players, coaches and spectators alike.
I sincerely thank the coaches, staff, parents, and Old Collegians who have prepared the teams for this week’s spirited competition. I especially thank our grounds and maintenance teams and the Co-Curricular Heads of both Colleges for their organisation of the 101st Rostrevor vs Sacred Heart Intercol. Well done to all students who have already represented our College with pride, and good luck to all students playing this afternoon and tomorrow!
This week, our Junior Years students celebrated Children’s Book Week. The Ideas Centre was transformed into a colourful space, with decor in line with the ‘Reading is Magic’ theme. This year the impressive ‘Enzo the Dragon’ was a fan favourite! Junior Years students were treated to visits from two special guests; Tania Ingram, author of the Jinny & Cooper and Aggie Flea series, and Timothy Ide, a renowned children’s book illustrator. The highlight of the week, as always, was the Book Week parade where we saw students, teachers and Prefects dressed as their favourite storybook characters!
I’m excited to announce that the Rostrevor College Centenary Books have landed and are now available for collection! Families who have pre-ordered are invited to drop in to collect their copy from the Main Front Office or will received their copy shortly via delivery.
Orders can still be placed via TryBooking HERE or purchased from the College Uniform Shop and Front Office. The perfect gift for Father’s Day next Sunday!
The Rally in the Valley tradition was started by retired teacher Paul Deegan many years ago as a way of expressing pride for our school colours and for younger students to learn and practice Rostrevor’s war cries. Now led by Rostrevor’s Old Collegian staff, the tradition was enjoyed by Middle and Senior Years students before they attended the Soccer on Tuesday.
On Thursday last week, music students from Rostrevor College, Christian Brothers College and St Paul’s College gathered for a memorable day of musical collaboration and learning, centered around a dynamic workshop with the renowned Hot Potato Band.
The day began with a shared breakfast, fostering camaraderie among students from all three schools. Known for their high-energy performances and unique blend of genres, the band guided students through a series of engaging activities, focusing on improvisation, group dynamics, and the importance of bringing joy to every performance. This workshop was a wonderful collaboration between The Music Support Group, Rostrevor College, CBC, and St. Paul’s College, showcasing the power of music to unite and inspire. The day was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn from professional musicians, connect with peers from other schools, and experience the joy of making music together.

Congratulations to Rostrevor’s Middle A2 Basketball team who won their Grand Final on Saturday against Cardijn College 44-42! The Middle A2s have been a powerhouse in the SAAS competition this year, and capped off their excellent season with a hard-fought win at Nazareth College.
Well done to the Open A2 team who also played in their Grand Final against St Ignatius College on the court over from the Middle A2s on Saturday. The game was a nail-biter, with both teams leading back-and-forth for most of the game until St Ignatius pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Rostrevor 50-59.
