I hope the King’s Birthday long weekend was an opportunity for you to relax and rewind as we head into the busyness of the final weeks of Term 2.
Please see below for the first of the Rostrevor Centenary Episodes – What it Means to be a Rostrevor Man. These Episodes will be released to the Rostrevor community regularly for the next few months. Please enjoy!
The Year 9 Mountain Bikers refined their skills around Kuitpo Forest last week before attempting the downhill trails and some jumps at Fox Creek on the final day. We had a number of highly competent riders, but everyone was challenged in some capacity – whether it was the relentless wintery weather, cooking their own meals, sleeping in tents or the technical prowess on the tougher trails. The boys showed great resilience and spirits remained high throughout the program.
It was especially great to see the riders with little or no experience grow in confidence over the three days and support each other while taking on new challenges. Without the distractions of technology, the boys created many positive memories together.
The College community congratulates Old Scholar, Clinical Professor Brendon Kearney AM (‘61) who was recognised in the King’s Birthday Awards this year, receiving an Order of Australia for his distinguished service to medicine in the fields of health technology assessment and health outcomes research.
Over the last few weeks, over 40 Rostrevor College students have taken part in concussion baseline testing utilising the same technology that will be used by FIFA at this year’s Football World Cup. The students were put through a vestibular ocular motor screen, balance and reaction time tests, and completed a questionnaire to create a history and symptom evaluation score. Should any of these students suffer a concussion injury in the future, the data captured during their healthy baseline screen will be used to assess the injury and determine the best recovery methods.
On Friday last week, the Receptions, Year 1s and Year 2s walked to Morialta Conservation Park where they applied their knowledge of plants and natural, managed, and constructed environments. The boys made meaningful connections between what they found in the park and what they had been learning about in class.
On Tuesday last week, Year 4 Black visited the Science labs to learn more about the process of weathering. They loved using the rocks made by our wonderful lab tech, Natasha Edwards, to see how different types of weather impact our environment. The boys then paid a visit to the farm where they got to say hello to the baby cows!
Our identity leaders and social justice group are asking for your support to donate beanies, socks, scarves, and blankets to St Vincent De Paul, to assist those experiencing homelessness this winter. Donations of items can be made in baskets in Student Services, the Ideas Centre, Junior Years Reception and classrooms throughout Weeks 8 and 9.
On the last day of Term 2 (30 June), students are invited to wear their favourite beanie for a gold coin donation that will also go to St Vincent De Paul. We appreciate your support with both the donations of items and gold coins in order to help make a difference to those in need.
Held at Rostrevor College during the Term 2 Holidays, the clinics are designed to develop players’ skills in a fun, safe and exciting environment inclusive of all abilities. The clinics are open to boys and girls from the wider Rostrevor community in Years 1 - 10.

Congratulations to Year 12 student, Fabian Talladira for being one of the final 23 players selected to represent Australia in the upcoming U17 Asian Football Confederation Tournament, and also for being chosen to be part of the Joeys Leadership Team. Wishing Fabian and the Australian team all the best as they take on Saudi Arabia in Thailand today!
The 9/10 Football team had a mixed bag of results on Monday. In our first game we managed to stave off a fast-finishing Sacred Heart side to win 6.3-39 to 3.9-27.
In our second match against St Marks, the rain became a troubling factor in our ability to transition the ball across the field. Despite starting the last quarter 20 points down, four quick goals, including a memorable crumb and snapped goal from James Jervis, meant that we were up by four points with just minutes left. Unfortunately, it was not to be as St Marks were able to respond with a last-minute goal and win the game 8.8-56 to 8.6-54.
The Year 9/10 Soccer Knockout team played its first game against Roma Mitchell yesterday, coming away with a convincing 4-0 win! The next step is the Quarter Final to be played in Term 3. Well done to our goal scorers: Joshua Farrell (2 goals), Oliver Ruotolo and Joseph Chong.
